What Happens To Your Lawn During The Winter?

Keep calm – your lawn is not dead!

The shorter and colder days can keep your grass from growing and freeze the roots. If it’s windy, the grass loses its moisture and, due to the frozen roots, it won’t absorb any water. This process is called desiccation and causes the grass blades to go dormant.

But don’t worry – even if the brown-ish color tricks you into thinking that the grass is dead, it’s not. As soon as the temperatures rise again, it will naturally start growing once more.

Plus – Mowing your lawn, don’t skip watering and staying off it if it’s frozen are some tips to minimize the damage during the colder months!

There’s no need to be upset if your grass doesn’t look pretty in the early spring. Let it recover and we’re sure you’ll have a beautiful green carpet in summer!
