Six steps to Simplify your Pool Maintenance

Summer is just a few days away and we are pretty sure you want to spend more time swimming and enjoying it than maintaining it.

That’s why we brought these six time-saving techniques for a safe and refreshing pool experience:

  1. Eliminate Debris: Spend a minute or two skimming the pool's surface and emptying the skimmer basket. Dispose of the waste away from the pool to prevent it from blowing back in.

  2. Vacuum the Pool: Vacuum the pool, moving slowly in parallel lines. If your pool is too wide, vacuum it in halves. Look out for a floating hose, which may indicate a hole or reduced suction. Brush any algae off the pool walls with a nylon brush (or stainless steel brush for concrete pools).

  3. Balance the Chemicals: Test and adjust the pool's chemistry weekly.

  4. Backwash the Filter: Switch the filter valve to "backwash" to redirect water flow. Depending on your filter type (sand, diatomaceous earth, or cartridge), follow the appropriate cleaning and maintenance steps.

  5. Clean the Pump Filter: Turn off the system and close the skimmer valve to keep water in place. Remove the pump's hair/lint catcher, empty the basket, and discard the debris.

  6. Add Chlorine: If you have a chlorinator, use slow-dissolving sticks in the tubelike tank near the filter to introduce chlorine to the pool. Follow the packaging instructions to determine the required number of sticks based on your pool's water volume. Adjust the amount in hot weather, when the heater is on, or during increased pool usage.

Lastly, check the water level and refill if it's below half of the skimmer well mouth - voilà!

We understand that taking good care of your pool can be a hassle, so if you don’t have the time to do it - we can do it for you! Call us today at 214-566-8101 to get a quote!
