Keep your Lawn Healthy this Summer!

The heat is already here and you’re wondering if your lawn is getting enough water? Providing the right amount of water is crucial to maintaining a green and lush lawn. Too little water leads to dry patches, while too much can cause rot and disease. Here's how to ensure your lawn gets the hydration it needs.

So, how to identify if my lawn needs to be watered? Although it seems evident, if your once-vibrant green lawn turns dull and grayish, it's thirsty and needs water. Also, pay attention to curling or droopy grass blades, as they indicate dehydration, too.

To be sure about the condition of your lawn, you can also take these two tests to determine watering needs:

  1. The step test: walk on your lawn and see how the grass reacts. If it springs back up, it's hydrated. If it remains flattened, it needs watering.

  2. The screwdriver test: probe the soil with a screwdriver. If it's hard to penetrate, your lawn lacks moisture.

Now that you know that your lawn needs water - let’s do it properly! Water your lawn in the early morning, ideally before 10 a.m. or between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. This reduces evaporation and promotes healthy growth. Avoid watering late at night to prevent disease. If necessary, water between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., allowing the lawn to dry before nightfall.

Watering is a vital part of lawn care, but it’s not always that easy to maintain. Once again, our Garden Scapes Guys team can help you out! Give us a call at 214-566-8101 and let us help you keep your lawn bright green this Summer!
